Physiological Neurogenic Tremor as a Response to Bowen Therapy

This presentation will focus on neurogenic tremor as a physiological, non-pathological response through which the neuromuscular system releases tension and restores autonomic balance. Following manual interventions such as Bowen therapy, this tremor emerges from proprioceptive input provided by fascial mechanoreceptors, muscle spindles, Golgi tendon organs, and spinal reflex circuits. It reflects transient recalibration of motor output, a shift from sympathetic to parasympathetic dominance, and the spontaneous release of residual defensive activation associated with stress, often manifesting as tremor, micro-movements, or spontaneous fascial unwinding. This adaptive response promotes optimized muscle tone, improved proprioception, and enhanced psychophysiological homeostasis. Recognizing these manifestations allows clinicians to interpret post-treatment reactions as inherent, self-regulatory mechanisms rather than signs of dysfunction.

About Renata Radič Berglez and Zalika Tisnikar Lamot

Renata Radič Berglez is a qualified radiological engineer with extensive clinical and research experience in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Her first encounter with Bowen Therapy inspired a profound shift in her professional path and deepened her interest in the relationship between the body, mind, and emotions, integrating her scientific expertise with a holistic approach to health.

Zalika Tisnikar Lamot
is a physical therapist with a holistic, manual approach and 25 years of experience, with Bowen Therapy at the core of her work. Her practice combines gentle yet effective techniques, attentive listening, and trust in the body’s ability to restore balance.

Since 2008, Zalika and Renata have been teaching Bowen Therapy to healthcare professionals in Slovenia, actively contributing to the education and development of therapists. They are licensed Bowen therapists and instructors, TRE instructors, and co-authors of an internationally accredited Bowen Therapy training program.

Bowen BTPA interview with Ben Calder: Physiological Neurogenic Tremor as a Response to Bowen Technique

Zalika Tisnikar Lamot and Renata Radič Berglez talk about their history, working in physio, with MS patients and in Radiography, before moving over to Bowen almost 20years ago, starting to teach together in 2012 and incorporating Graham Pennington's IOS work. We discuss their presentation in the Zagreb Celebrating Bowen conference in May 2026, and the discussion of neurogenic tremor (shaking) as a response to Bowen Technique and why they think it might be a regular occurance in sessions.
