Biomechanical and Kinesiological Interrelationships in Patients with Lumbar Disc Herniation
This paper is to draw the attention of Bowen therapists to the specificity of discogenic and radicular pain and to propose a possibility for overcoming the symptoms through a conservative approach using Bowen therapy.
The material presents the author’s perspective on certain aspects of pelvic asymmetries in the frontal plane and provides case studies of patients with large, extruded lumbar disc herniations who had been referred for surgical treatment but managed to avoid surgery through Bowen therapy, supported by MRI images. Possibilities for relieving potential discogenic compression of the nerve root under specific kinesiological and biomechanical conditions will be discussed.
